Hello Barracudas Families,

Cudas Fall Maintenance Program - Registration Open

Fall Registration is now open. The Fall program will run from Thursday September 6 until Sunday November 11th. There is a scheduled pool closure for annual pool repairs from November 12th until December 16th. Winter Session will begin January 3, 2019 and registration for the Winter Program will open in November.

We are happy to welcome back Coach Keenan Elliott, 2017 Barracudas head coach, who will be coaching the competitive groups on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.

We are very excited to announce that the club has partnered with Catalyst Kinetics Aquatics in Burnaby. We warmly welcome guest coach Ryan Skomorowski who heads-up the Aquatics program at Catalyst Kinetics. Ryan will coach the Intermediate and Senior groups Monday evenings. Ryan is a seasoned professional coach and has coached every level of swimmer from beginner to elite competitor in Canada and abroad. Ryan was head coach of the Barracudas for 10 years and lead the Cudas to multiple provincial championships during his time with the club. He is looking forward to reconnecting his home team.

Junior, Junior Prep and Baby swimmers can look forward to being coached by many of the coaches they met this summer such as Daniela Luongo, Nick Tran, Garrett Yeo, Cameron Dickson, Olivia Graham and others. They are excited to be working with their swimmers in the off season.

Swim Active & Online Registration

We are launching a new on-line registration system through Swim-Active. All BCSSA clubs are now required to use the SwimActive system for all program registrations.

Getting started with Active:

First create a SwimActive account, without it you can't register. Sign- up for Active here:active.com

Once you have activated your SwimActive account, you can access the link for the Barracudas Fall Maintenance Program.Registration linkhttp://www.active.com/burnaby-bc/water-sports/swimming-registrations/fall-maintenance-2018

The on-line system only allows for payment by major credit card. If you prefer to make your payment off-line, please email registrar@burnabybarracudas to make arrangements. Registration cannot be completed until the off-line payment is received. Once your off-line payment has been processed, you will be issued a coupon code which will enable you to complete the on-line registration without payment by credit card.

There are also mandatory waivers and agreements within the on-line form. The system will not allow you to modify any portion of those waiver/ agreements. You will not be able to continue with the registration unless you agree to all the waivers/ agreements posted in the registration form. If you have any concerns about the waivers/ agreement or wish to modify them please contactregistrar@burnabybarracudas.comto see if your request can be accommodated.

Since this is our first experience with the new system we have purposely decided to set a very low capacity (only 20 spots) so wait lists will be created.DON'T WORRY, we have ample capacity but space for some practice groups in certain time slots is limited. We don't want the system to accept more registrations than we can actually accommodate and then have to issue refunds. Expect that you will be put on a wait list. The Registrar will be actively managing the wait list to fill all the spaces available as quickly as possible. Your payment will only be processed when the Registrar confirms your placement. The system will automatically generate an email confirmation of your registration once it is accepted. The requests will be processed in the order they are received by the system.

Completing the Form:

There are 3 pages of information to complete for the on-line registration form:
  • Swimmer information
  • Selection of group (Option A: 1practice/ week or Option B: 2 practices/ week)
  • Parent/ guardian information

You will be asked to select a training group and preferred practice time(s). Returning swimmers select your most recent 2018 training group. New swimmers look to the Training Group Description to help you identify the training group that best describes your swimmer's age and skill. Please email the registrar if you need further guidance. The Registrar will be emailing you with your group and practice times before the start of the first practice. Please note, coaches will be conducting skills assessment during the first practice. Some swimmers maybe moved to a different training group after the assessment.

See Fall schedule and Training Group Description here (pdf to link).

We are looking forward to launching this new program. Thanks for you patience and understanding as we work through this on-line initiation.

See you pool side in September!
